All New MinPluto

What 'was' MinPluto?

MinPluto was a modern privacy frontend for YouTube and Twitch giving you total anonymity. It provides additional features such as an account system, no annoying ads, multilingual support, custom video player, and additional customization.

Current State

YouTube frequently updates the way their backend operates, Invidious API works but gets constantly blocked on a lot of instances including mine. With the various changes implemented by YouTube this year, users have been receiving messages like “This helps protect our community.” and “Please sign in to confirm you’re not a bot”.

MinPluto depends heavily on Invidious API to bring YouTube support. Given these circumstances, MinPluto intends to no longer provide support for YouTube. Are there not already an abundance of YouTube interfaces available? MinPluto does not want to simply be another YouTube interface at the moment.

Same goes for Twitch, while the project as a Twitch frontend works fine, it's not worth continuing development. I recommend continue using SafeTwtich created by dragongoose as your Twitch frontend alternative, it's the best one out there.

What Now?

Since the only platforms that MinPluto was supporting was now dropped, what does MinPluto support now and is it even a frontend alternative anymore? No, MinPluto will no longer be a frontend alternative project, since it will no longer be building support for YouTube and Twitch.

Moving forward, MinPluto's brand will now continue has a sub-organization of SudoVanilla, primarily focused on media technologies. Focusing MinPluto on media technologies made sense, since the video player I've built, Zorn Player, is already built under MinPluto.

Branding Update

Continuing on MinPluto's brand, let's takea look at the new logos:

The logo for both MinPluto and Zorn Player have been updated. The corner radius in MinPluto’s logo are now less inconstant and the letter “P” now only shows an outline stroke instead of being filled in all solid white. The letter “M” itself didn’t get much change.

The Zorn Player logo was completely overhauled, as it’s previous logo was too abstract and it was originally suppose to be temporary anyway. It’s shape is suppose to represent a letter “Z” in a way.

New Website

As part of a new sub-organization of SudoVanilla, MinPluto is getting it's own new website. Since MinPluto will now be focusing on media related tech, the subdomain decided for the new site was "studio".

As of now, it mainly showcases Zorn, as it's the only main project under MinPluto.

Zorn Player

Zorn Player, a MinPluto project, will be getting focused too while MinPluto's branding getting overhauled.

Zorn Player still has functions that need to be added and addressed. Such as gestures for mobile support, improved subtitles, dedicated inline-player UI, improved feedback, pop-up mode, presentation mode, audio-only mode, and other minor things.
